AC Milan will have a new era under the belt Wednesday officially present Clarence Seedorf as the new manager prior to the match against Hellas Verona during the weekend. The new manager will already have the support of his star players after having played for the club during their illustrious period. Robinho has also given the new manager of major boost by returning to form in the 3-1 win over Spezia. This was the first match for the club since the 4-3 defeat against Sassuolo, which also resulted in the sacking of manager Massimiliano Allegri.
It was Robinho opened the scoring after 28 minutes on the clock. The Brazilian has been one of the underperformance in the team in the last few months, but he seems to have realised that he needs to perform exceptionally well in order to get into the Brazilian national team. Scolari will be announcing the squads of the World Cup hosts shortly and Robinho faces a fight due to the form of his competitors. He gave a major impression in this match, which turned out to be a comfortable victory for the home team after goals from Pazzini and Honda.
Ferrari’s late goal was nothing more than a consolation for the away team, as they crashed out of the competition. Robinho has not played for the national team since 2011, but he has been included in the last two friendly matches by Luis Felipe Scolari. The 29-year-old had been linked with a return to Brazilian football with Santos on a permanent basis, but it appears that the move has not gone beyond being a rumour.
Santos would have been unable to match the financial demands of Milan for one of their few remaining star players. Seedorf is expected to take charge for the home match against Hellas Verona during the weekend.
