Arguably the greatest player in the world of football at present, Lionel Messi has claimed that he wants to finish his career at Football Club Barcelona.
Messi asserted that the Catalan giants are the greatest club in the world at the moment and he wishes that he would get the opportunity to finish off his career with them. The Argentina international forward, who was named as the Best Player in the World two successive times in 2010 and 2011 is the clear favorite to land his third Ballon d’Or at the Swiss capital of Zurich on Monday.
The diminutive Argentine has admitted that all he knows about football, he learnt it at the famous Barcelona academy at La Masia and has also admitted that the influence of current Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is undeniable and all that he is at the moment is because of the man at the dugout.
Lionel Messi, who is already the second highest goal scorer in the history of Barcelona at the tender age of 24 years has won three UEFA Champions League crowns (and are odds on to win another according to the Champions League betting markets!) and five Spanish League titles has stated that the current Barcelona side is the only side that can fulfill all his desires and demands on the field and he wished to stay at the club as long as they did not get tired of him.
Having won all there is to win in club football, it was understood that Messi would look for greener pastures and fresh challenges with Inter Milan keen to acquire his services but it seems that Lionel Messi has his heart set on remaining with the Claret and Blues, a club he joined at the age of just 10 years. Messi has now set his heart on winning the Spanish League and the Champions League once again, and who would bet on Chelsea throwing a spanner in the works when Barcelona have Lionel Messi on their side?!
