Leicester City have been enjoying an unbelievable season and they could end up with a Premier league title at the end of it.
This would have been almost unthinkable exactly a year ago when the club was fighting against the prospect of relegation. Even at the start of the 2015-16 season, they were rated as the favourites to go down. However, Claudio Ranieri has sparked a remarkable improvement in the team and has managed to keep their end of season form going. Just when it seemed that Leicester’s remarkable run would continue, they are just eight games away from a league title.
Much of the campaign has been built on the goals from Jamie Vardy, who was playing nonleague football not too long ago. The Englishman has scored 19 league goals and is alongside Harry Kane as the frontrunner for the Golden Boot award. However, a title success is not built on the back of just one player being good and this has been proved in the case of Leicester City. Players like Riyad Mahrez and Kasper Schmeichel have had a huge say in the results so far, but defender Robert Huth says that Wes Morgan has been the club’s most important player by far.
“In my opinion Wes is probably our best player.” he told the Greece Yacht Charter website. “Jamie and Riyad get all the goals but if you analyse the performances game by game then Wes has been in the top two players in every single match. Both as a skipper and as a human being, he’s great to be around,” said the former Chelsea defender. Most of the players in the Leicester team have cost much less than a regular title winning team. Jamaican international Morgan came to the club from Nottingham Forest for just £ 1 million in 2012. Nigel Pearson was manager who had signed him.
