The soccer star who was kidnapped has been rescued by the Mexican police.
The footballer Alan Pulido, who plies his trade with Greek football club Olympiakos, was freed in a tight operation by the security operatives just before midnight on Sunday in the northeast border state of Tamaulipas.
The Mexican star player was earlier kidnapped on Saturday as he left a party a night before. He was at the press conference the next day being Monday to declare his safe status and share his ordeal in the hands of his captors. The 25-year old player wore shorts and a tank top with a bandaged right hand alongside Tamaulipas Governor Egidio Torre Cantu at the press conference.
The player was just very grateful for his life and shared very little details, thanking God for his life multiple times. He declined further questions from reporters until he was driven away in a sports utility vehicle. However, the Tamaulipas security coordination group said in a statement earlier Monday that the rescue occurred shortly before midnight and involved state and federal forces. The police spokesman also mentioned that the victim was rescued in san operation where only one suspect was arrested but he declined to give further details.
His club was worried when the news about the kidnap broke out and released a statement when he was rescued via Twitter which reads:
“Alan is safe and sound with his family. We thank everyone for their concern and prayers during the difficult moments he has lived.”
Pulido missed the list for Copa America released by the national team coach just because of contract troubles despite the quality he possesses. He helped the team with three goals in earlier call-ups and even scored five goals in limited action for Olympiakos last season.
