Atletico Mineiro attacker Eduardo Vargas enhanced his chase for the Golden Boot after he scored for Chile in their latest Copa America clash with Uruguay as the two teams shared the spoils. The Chilean player was on target as his team played out a 1-1 draw with two-time world champions Uruguay in Cuiaba on Monday.
With his goal against Uruguay, Vargas has now scored two goals in three games at the ongoing Copa America tournament in Brazil. He is one of three players on two goals at the tournament. The other two players are Brazilian star Neymar and Angel Romero of Paraguay.
Vargas scored his first goal of the tournament when he levelled proceedings for Chile in the second half after Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi had given Argentina the lead in the first half. His goal secured a 1-1 draw with Argentina. Messi scored the opener on 33 minutes before Vargas replied 12 minutes into the second half.
Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star Neymar has two goals in two games thus emerging as one of the leading goalscorers at the tournament. Neymar is the only player to maintain a record of scoring in each game at the tournament. The ex-Santos and Barcelona player would be hoping to continue his good form in front of goal when Brazil take on Colombia on Wednesday.
